You work with pregnant and new mothers and know from experience that
the happiest mothers feel like they make heartfelt choices that are right for them.
They have support systems that validate their choices.
Here are some resources to help you support them:
1. "Taking Care of Yourself: Eleven Essentials for Surviving the First Six
Months" is a quick start guide you can give mothers. It outlines eleven ways for
mothers to feel more confident and successful. You can forward it as a link or
print hand outs. All I ask is that you give me credit as the author if you use it for
something else.
"Thank You! It's very friendly, professional and helpful. I printed
a bunch to hand out to my clients and I hope other folks you
contact, do too."
2. New Baby News is a weekly support meeting in an email. It focuses on the
0-6 month postpartum period when many mothers are lonely and vulnerable. It
encourages and empowers a mother to seek a close relationship with her baby
and to search for what really works for her baby and her family rather than
latching onto the latest media trend. New Baby, New Paltz is a robust new mom
group and I include important pieces of our live meeting content for those who
can't make it.
"I really miss New Baby, New Paltz now that I am back at work.
New Baby News is my lifeline."
3. While the assumption is that readers breastfeed, there is no judgment if
she doesn't. So many mothers meet insurmountable obstacles and give up
breastfeeding. I like to support every mother where she is right now and give her
a little bit of information at a time. It is important to me that a mother feels seen,
heard and valued. Then, maybe, next time she will breastfeed.
"I had every problem in the book: C-section, NICU, thrush. I
didn't know how to continue. Now, I regret giving it up and I
feel embarrassed when I bottle feed."
New Moms LOVE New Baby News. More than 50% of the subscribers open it
within 24 hours and they follow through on links. A relevant link can have a 10%
click rate.
"I loved the issue where you listed all the baby carrier companies!
I keep coming back to that one."
Here are some ways professionals are using New Baby News:
- To forward to their clients because a particular topic resonates with them
- To keep current on what mothers are interested in
- For the links and resources included in every issue
- For Ulster County, NY events
- To list their services or products

Donna-
This week's newsletter was
pitch perfect.
Somehow you know just
what to say at just the right
time. We've been discussing
how and when we want to
start to transition our
daughter to her own room. I
feel like I've read every book
and listened to every advice
out there but yours rings
truest and we've been
taking it day by day (or night
by night). It's nice to have
your thoughts reinforced,
with "Hey, you've got the
idea"!
Thanks so much!
Love,
Amy
