If you are a parent who wants to connect better with your teen through their
growing up process, this class might be for you.  It is possible for you to
witness dramatic changes in your relationship even if you do all the work and
they "do nothing".

We cover nine areas where most families need more harmony:

  • Rules (My Way, The Highway, and the Other Way)
  • Rudeness (From silence to cursing you out)
  • Friendships (Oy! The Roller Coaster!)
  • School (Homework, Cutting, College)
  • Emotional craziness (What is normal?)
  • First Love (Uh Oh!)
  • Experimentation (Is this my child?)
  • Media (texting, Facebook, gaming, TV)
  • Addiction (The causes, early signs and what to do)

About the Classes:

The classes give you focused attention and personal support every week. You
can vent frustrations and get weekly help with your teen. The issues you are
struggling with are included in the Repatterning and you will start to see
movement in places where you are stuck.

The classes are confidential, positive and non-judgmental with regards to family
type, gender, age and issues being faced by individuals. You may share details
about your family or keep them private. Class size is limited to 8 parents.

We meet in New Paltz on Thursdays from 7-8:30 pm. (If you can't make
one or two classes, you will be included by proxy and receive the summary of
the class via email on Friday.)

How old should my child be?

Adolescence is so variable!
The best guideline I can
suggest is if you are
experiencing what I have
described, then you and
your child will benefit.
Generally groups form and
have similar age children. I
don't know why,  but they
do.  (Classes are for only for
the parents.)

Should both parents come?

If you want to, you can.
Mom and Dad have different
perspectives and
experiences. What is
important is that the other
parent come willingly.  If
your child is younger, its
probably more beneficial to
have one parent stay home
with them.

What should I tell my
child?

I am a big fan of being
upfront with kids. You can
explain in terms they
understand and you are
comfortable with. And if you
have nerves of steel, you
can ask them what they
would like to see improved
in you! They will be thrilled
to give you their two cents.
"Make my life less
painful."

Classes are flexible and work around a weekly topic. Each class opens with
an update on how your week went. You can vent about things that are bugging
you and we will include them into the class session. I share a weekly teaching on
teen development and relationship skills. Then we do a repatterning session so
that you and your teen get along better and have more agreement.

What is a Repatterning?

Repatterning is when we take something that is bothering you and do some
specific exercises so that your problem doesn't bother you anymore. A
repatterning gives you perspective on
Where the problem came from, Why you
have the problem and
What steps you need to take to stop having this
problem.

Once you are no longer emotionally entangled (or "resonating") with your
problem, it either doesn't bother you any more or you can easily take the steps
you need to take to resolve the problem.

But HOW do you do it?

When we are with others, we can feel the waves of connection. Some people
call it 'their gut feeling', 'chemistry', 'intuition' or 'body language'.
 We
are drawn to people with similar waves. We feel comfortable with them. We say
our friends are on the "same wavelength" as us, right? The same thing happens
with this class. Everyone in the class will be facing similar challenges.

When we are unhappy (or angry, or frustrated) there is an underlying
wave (or pattern).
These waves keep us stuck in repetitive problems. In the
class, we use applied kiniesiology to zero in on the particular wave that is
causing the problem. By using 1 or 2 specific exercises, (and we have hundreds
to choose from) we can shift that non-coherent wave into a harmonious wave
or pattern.

When you feel good, we say those are coherent waves or patterns. We
experience them as Love, Joy, Patience, Compassion and Forgiveness. When we
feel bad, we say those waves are non-coherent. We experience them as anger,
jealousy, impatience, and sadness.

Repatterning is precise and efficient. And it makes sense as we do the
session.
We learn how various beliefs and events in our lives are directly related
and may even be the root of our current problem...and, of course, we get those
old events and beliefs shifted so they don't affect us anymore.

More important than efficiency, though, is the heart connection we bring
to each session. You are shifting with love, support and guidance. With each
class, you become more intuitive, understanding, and decisive. You feel more
confident standing your ground in the face of resistance and you also learn
when it's time to let go because your teen is ready to be more independent.
