Fees & Insurance
I am a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and my services should be covered by your health insurance, or employee benefit plan, in full, with no copay. It's often complicated. I will do my best to help you get the lactation care you need.

Payment is required to reserve an appointment.

Insurance pre-approval, cash, check, credit card, Venmo, PayPal, and Flex/HSA cards are all accepted forms of payment. Payment links are provided in your Intake package.
Aetna
I am in-network with Aetna. You can book up to six appointments with your current Aetna insurance card. You will be responsible to cover any charges Aetna chooses not pay.
Blue Cross, Anthem, Cigna, UHC and some other plans
BCBS, Anthem, Cigna, UHC and some others can be pre-approved for two or more consults. Apply at this link to find out if your plan participates in The Lactation Network program.

Reimbursement

Even if your insurance is not pre-approved, fees are reimbursable by most plans, except Medicaid plans. I will give you a Superbill that you can submit for reimbursement.

You will be reimbursed in-full, or in-part, depending on your plan. To find out what coverage your plan offers, call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and inquire about "Lactation Consultation benefits."
Often, your insurance company will tell you a lactation consultant must be "in-network" and you will find that their in-network consultants only work in hospitals, or there are none in the area. You can be reimbursed if you "request an exception" to see a lactation consultant "out-of-network" who will come to your home. This has been effective with Emblem and CDPHP.
Be Persistent.

Expect to get conflicting information and answers from your insurance company. They prefer to not pay claims because they are in business to make a profit for their shareholders. If they can delay you, they know you will give up, and their company's profit goes up.
Make notes and take names. Parents who are persistent with insurance companies are often reimbursed after a few calls, and/or escalating a complaint to a supervisor.
Cancellation

Appointments can be canceled or rescheduled at no charge, when 24 hours notice is given. Reserved appointments will be refunded when cancelled more than 24 hours in advance and will be refunded, except for a $100 cancellation fee, with less than 24 hours notice.

Gift Cards

Gift Cards are available for those you love. Paper or electronic/email delivery.
